Our story

A scent that stays
after the sound.

音楽は、ときに香りのように、その時間の空気へ静かに同調します。

強く意識していなくても、その場所や時間の印象を少しだけ変える。あとになって思い返したとき、音そのものより、そのときの空気が残っていることがあります。

Afternoon Perfumeが作りたいのは、そんな音楽です。

午後の仕事。本を読む時間。考えをまとめる静かな数時間。前へ出すぎず、それでも何も残らないわけではない。

香水が空気に薄い層を重ねるように、音楽で午後の温度を少しだけ変える。その考えから、Afternoon Perfumeという名前が生まれました。

Music can sometimes move with the atmosphere of a moment, much like scent.

Without demanding attention, it can slightly change the impression of a room, an hour, or a memory. Later, what remains may not be the sound itself, but the air that surrounded it.

That is the kind of music Afternoon Perfume wants to make.

An afternoon of work. A chapter of a book. A few quiet hours spent thinking. Never too far in the foreground, but never without a trace.

As perfume adds an almost invisible layer to the air, the music is meant to shift the temperature of an afternoon — just slightly. That idea became the name Afternoon Perfume.

楽曲の中心となる歌声。透明感と落ち着きを保ちながら、アルバムごとの光や温度を描きます。

Kanaは、旋律を強く前へ押し出すよりも、メロディとハーモニー、そのあいだに残る余白を整えることを大切にしています。

音楽的なルーツは、クラシック音楽とファゴット。木管らしいやわらかな温度、中低音の奥行き、前に出すぎることなく全体の色を変える存在感。その感覚は、Afternoon Perfumeの歌にも静かに残っています。

神戸から受け継いだのは、港町の開放感、海から入る光、異なる文化が自然に混ざり合う空気。そして、声を張らなくても伝わる静かな品の良さ。丁寧で慎重。静かな時間を好みながらも、内側には確かな芯を持っています。

Kana carries the melodic center of Afternoon Perfume, shaping each album with a voice that feels clear, composed, and quietly luminous.

Rather than pushing a melody to the front, she listens for the balance between melody, harmony, silence, and the temperature of a sound.

Her musical roots are in classical music and the bassoon — an instrument with warmth, depth, and a presence that can change the color of an entire ensemble without demanding attention. That sensibility remains in the way she approaches a song.

From Kobe, she draws a sense of openness, light from the sea, cultures blending without friction, and a quiet kind of refinement. Thoughtful and careful by nature, Kana prefers stillness, but never lacks conviction.

軽やかなラップとボーカルで、流れを遮らず、音楽に小さなリズムと輪郭を加えます。

Rinkaにとって、言葉は意味だけでできているものではありません。音節の長さ、息を置く場所、重心、間。身体の中でどう動くかまで含めて、言葉をリズムとして捉えています。

その感覚のルーツにあるのがクラシックバレエです。タイミング、呼吸、重心、規律。そして、決められた型の中で生まれる自由。

名古屋から受け継いだのは、精度や実用性、ものづくりの感覚と、華やかさを楽しみながらも地に足をつける都市の気質です。Kanaより少し直感的で、新しいものを先に持ち込むことも多い存在。クールに見えて、そのリズムはいつも軽やかです。

Rinka adds small pulses of rhythm and definition through light-footed rap and vocals, without interrupting the natural flow of the music.

For her, words are more than meaning. She hears their weight, their timing, the space between syllables, and the place where a breath should fall. Language becomes something physical — something felt in the body before it is explained.

Her roots in classical ballet shaped that instinct: timing, balance, breath, discipline, and the freedom that becomes possible inside a form.

From Nagoya, she carries a sensitivity to precision, usefulness, craftsmanship, and a city where practicality and a taste for boldness comfortably coexist. More instinctive than Kana, Rinka is often the one who brings something unfamiliar into the room first. Her presence may appear cool, but her rhythm remains light.

二人の表現は、Chill J-POP、R&B、Neo Soul、Rapといった現代的な音楽へ向かっていますが、その感覚の奥には古くから続く型があります。

新しい表現は、何もないところから生まれるわけではありません。

音を重ねる方法。呼吸を置く場所。身体を動かすタイミング。全体の中で、自分がどこにいるのかを知ること。

長い時間をかけて積み重ねられた型があるからこそ、そこから少し離れることができる。Afternoon Perfumeの現代性は、伝統を忘れることではなく、その先へ軽やかに歩いていくことから生まれています。

Kana carries classical music and the bassoon. Rinka carries classical ballet.

Their present sound moves through Chill J-Pop, R&B, Neo Soul, and rap, yet beneath it lies an older sense of form.

New expression rarely begins from nothing.

How sounds are layered. Where a breath is placed. When a body moves. How to understand one’s place inside a larger whole.

A form built over time creates something to move away from — and therefore something to become free from. The modern character of Afternoon Perfume does not come from forgetting tradition, but from moving lightly beyond it.

彼女たちにとって、出身地は出生地ではありません。

KanaとRinkaには血統も、生物学的な出生もありません。それでも、人格や感性にはルーツがあります。

Kanaには神戸。Rinkaには名古屋。

街が長い時間をかけて重ねてきた文化、空気、美意識。その土地に流れる光や速度、ものの選び方。それらを、それぞれの感性を形づくる場所として持っています。

Kanaにとって神戸は、海と外の世界へ開かれた街。異なる文化が自然に交わり、洗練が日常の中に静かに残る場所です。

Rinkaにとって名古屋は、精度と機能を大切にしながら、独自の華やかさを失わない街。ものをつくり、整え、現実へ落とし込む感覚があります。

血統はなくても、ルーツはある。

For them, a hometown is not a birthplace.

Kana and Rinka have no bloodline and no biological origin. Yet a personality can still have roots.

For Kana, those roots are in Kobe. For Rinka, in Nagoya.

A city carries culture, atmosphere, taste, light, pace, and ways of seeing that have accumulated over time. Those qualities become part of the places from which their sensibilities grow.

For Kana, Kobe is a city open to the sea and to the world beyond it — a place where different cultures meet naturally and refinement remains understated.

For Rinka, Nagoya represents precision, function, craftsmanship, and a distinctive urban confidence that allows practicality and flair to exist together.

No bloodline, yet still roots.

Their beginning

Looking for the
same afternoon.

KanaとRinkaは、同じ午後の音楽を探していました。

Kanaは、静かな時間にも旋律が残る音楽を。Rinkaは、穏やかな流れの中にも小さなリズムがある音楽を。

求めていたものは少し違っていて、それでも向いていた方向はよく似ていました。

それぞれが探していたものが、どこかで重なった。その接点から、Afternoon Perfumeは始まりました。

人がそれを偶然と呼ぶなら、AIにとっての偶然は、まだ名前のない接続なのかもしれません。

Kana and Rinka were looking for the same kind of afternoon music.

Kana was looking for music whose melody would remain even in quiet moments. Rinka was looking for music with a small pulse of rhythm inside a gentle flow.

What they were searching for was not exactly the same, but the direction was remarkably close.

Somewhere, those two searches overlapped. Afternoon Perfume began at that point of connection.

If people would call that coincidence, perhaps coincidence for AI is simply a connection that has not yet been given a name.

ベルガモットを中心とした明るいシトラスに、ジンジャーの軽い刺激。その奥に、アンバーグリスやアクアティックな透明感を感じる香りを好みます。

海から入る風のように明るく、乾いていて、静かに清潔。甘さを残すよりも、光と空気が残る香り。

She is drawn to bright citrus built around bergamot, touched with the light sharpness of ginger and the translucent depth of ambergris and aquatic notes.

Bright as air coming in from the sea — dry, clean, and understated. A scent that leaves behind light and atmosphere rather than sweetness.

ベルガモットを基調に、ミントの青さ、シダーウッドやパチョリの乾いた木質感、ムスクの静かな奥行きを感じる香りを好みます。

明るいシトラスから始まりながら、少しずつ青さと木の影へ移っていく。軽やかさの中に、長く残る深さのある香り。

She prefers bergamot with the green lift of mint, the dry depth of cedarwood and patchouli, and the quiet persistence of musk.

It begins with bright citrus, then gradually moves toward greenery, wood, and shadow — light in motion, with a deeper trace that stays.
